Why am I involved with "Arul Trust"? – Today: Berno Müller
Today we introduce our club member Berno Müller:
Berno Müller, born in 1957, served for many years as press officer for the Rhein-Neckar district and advisor to the district administrator. Throughout his professional career, he considered it important to help people in need, a commitment he also demonstrated through his volunteer work as a member of the parish council and the foundation board of the Sacred Heart parish in Leimen. He promoted historical and political education as a co-responsible party for the Rhein-Neckar district's own publishing house and through his involvement in local history research, where collaboration with churches played a crucial role.
When asked why he became a member of the Arul Trust e. V. support association, Berno Müller says:
"After the tsunami disaster at Christmas 2004, I came into contact with the association 'Help for Self-Help – Third World e. V.' in Dossenheim and its chairman, Helmut Merkel, who was directly involved on the ground, delivering aid precisely to those in need. I was impressed by this commitment, which used monetary and in-kind donations to create a better world in Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. I recognize this same commitment, especially to young people and disadvantaged women and girls in their home countries, in the work of Pastor Arul Lourdu, his foundation, and the Arul Trust e. V. support association. Therefore, it was a matter of honor for me to immediately agree to his request to become a member. Direct contact is the best way to support people in need. And this way, I can be sure that my modest contribution reaches those where healthcare, education, and training are urgently needed."
